Description of Iquitos Native 3 days / 2 nights

This program is designed for those who want to live a complete experience in the Amazon jungle. It combines nature, culture, and adventure in one of Peru’s most fascinating destinations. Sail along the Amazon River, visit native communities, discover wildlife, join daytime and nighttime walks, and enjoy the magic of Amazonian myths around a campfire.

Itinerary of Iquitos Native 3 days / 2 nights

Day 1

Day 1: Welcome and first experiences in the jungle

Pick-up from the airport and short city tour, visiting the old houses from the rubber boom era, including the famous Iron House designed by Eiffel. Then we will visit the longest bridge in Iquitos over the Nanay River.
We will begin our navigation on the Amazon River by speedboat, where we can observe the meeting of the waters and, with some luck, pink or gray dolphins. The first stop will be at the Cocama tribe to learn about their customs, dances, and handicrafts.
We will arrive at the lodge’s port and walk 25 minutes through the jungle to reach the lodge. Upon arrival, we will receive a typical welcome drink and have lunch.
In the afternoon, we will visit the Yahua tribe, learning about their clothing, dances, and use of the blowgun. After dinner, we will take a night walk to observe animals such as tarantulas, giant toads, caimans, or lizards.

Day 2

Day 2: Amazonian wildlife and piranha fishing

At dawn we will go out to observe the sunrise, birds, and howler monkeys, as well as to look for the Shansho, a bird considered prehistoric.
After breakfast, we will visit a rescue center for Amazonian animals, where you can interact with monkeys, sloths, toucans, and anacondas. Then we will visit an Amazonian sugar mill with a tasting of aphrodisiac drinks made from roots and plants.
After lunch, we will experience piranha fishing on the Yanayacu or Amazon River.
At nightfall, after dinner, we will enjoy a campfire with stories of myths and legends such as the pink river dolphin and the chullachaki

Day 3

Day 3: Walk in the virgin jungle and return to Iquitos

After breakfast, we will take a walk in the virgin jungle to observe animal tracks such as the jaguar’s, get to know giant trees such as the lupuna, and learn about medicinal plants used ancestrally.
After lunch at the lodge, we will begin our return to Iquitos, arriving at approximately 2:30 pm.
