This trip starts early with a transfer from your hotel to the train station in Ollantaytambo. After a scenic train ride, we arrive at kilometer 104, where we begin our hike. Along a well-marked trail with challenging stairs, we will explore archaeological sites such as Chachabamba and Wiñay Wayna, an architectural jewel that combines agricultural terraces, temples and urban sectors. We will continue to Inti Punku, the mystical Sun Gate, from where we will have our first glimpse of the majestic Machu Picchu. We will descend to Aguas Calientes to rest and prepare for the next day’s experience.
With an early start, we will take the first bus to Machu Picchu to explore the citadel with a 2.5 hour guided tour. Afterwards, you will have free time to explore Machu Picchu. In the afternoon, we will return by train from Aguas Calientes to Ollantaytambo, and then by transportation to your hotel in Cusco.
